Last year Wastewater Australia was engaged to design and install energy efficient Wastewater Treatment Plants for Outback Spirit Tours. One of these systems was installed at one of the very first luxury lodges in the outback, the Seven Spirit Bay Lodge. The iconic Northern Territory wilderness lodge is located on the western side of Port Essington in the Garig Gunak Barlu National Park on the Cobourg Peninsula.
Seven Spirit Bay has received a complete revamp, with a $3.5 million redevelopment completed in April 2016. The original guest accommodation, were completely transformed into ultra-luxurious rooms featuring architecturally designed ensuite bathrooms, beautiful furniture, a front balcony & of course an eco-friendly waste water treatment plant.
Outback Spirit operates to its own stringent eco principles and pride themselves on offering sustainable tourism. The philosophy of care, contribution and environmental sustainability carries right through the Outback Spirit organisation. An example of this, is introducing a state of the art wastewater treatment plant by ours truly. The Seven Spirit Bay Lodge sports some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, and they work hard to help save and preserve these.
The original guest accommodation, known as ‘habitats’, have been completely transformed. Each Habitat is nestled in amongst beautiful wilderness and boasts water views over one of the local bays, containing individual front decks with views of surrounding pristine wilderness and waters of Port Essington. Not only does the lodge have luxury resort facilities but they also offer an array of activities, from Sunset 4WD adventures to Gunners Quoin and Vashon Head, to viewing the first ever RAMSAR listed wetlands in the world. The lodge also features a beautiful swimming pool, set amongst palms overlooking coral bay.
